Energy and storage

Storage to compensate the intermittency of renewable

Renewable energies such as wind and PV require electrical storage because they are intermitent or the available energy production is varying with the season. The storage capacity to target sufficient energy coverage of consumers are roughly estimated by monthly balance but the final dimensioning require hourly simulations. These simulations include the modelling of producers and consumers as well as powerplants with the meteorological data as inputs : wind, irradiation, temperature. The optimum dimensioning is based on power and energy exchanged with the storage and other criteria must be taken into account : safety, energy efficiency and return on investment.

Tecphy proposes offers at different phases of the project.

Schematic design phase of a storage project

  1. Definition of the customer objectives : self-consumption, partial or complete autarcie, electrical mobility
  2. Analysis of the consumers (ex : building systems with heat needs) and expected production potential  surfaces for PV
  3. Calculation of storage needs : monthly balance PV production  – consumption to determine overall storage potential and relevance, re-adjusting of the production by adding PV ( ex : identify suitable BIPV products)
  4. Feasability of storage : pressure, dimensions, ventilation, eventually external  green Hydrogen feeding considering the road access constrains
  5. Hourly simulations for the dimensioning of power and energy
  6. Sharing between electrochemical battery and hydrogen storages capacities
  7. Final dimensioning targeting the customer objectives

Development design phase

  1. Build specifications for suppliers and integrators
  2. Analysis of solutions : best matching between quote and specifications, reliability of technologies and suppliers, building integration , security, cost
  3. Compliancy with norms, analysis of the P&ID (Hydrogen gas circuit … )
  4. Purchasing support

Fabrication follow-up

  1. Mechanical, electricity, telecom
  2. Site preparation towards integration

Installation and commissioning

  1. Coordination HVAC and safety
  2.  Energy management,  algorithms
  3. Interface and domotic
  4. Final acceptance
  5. Delivery to customer
