Hydrogen, Stationary applications
Seasonal storage with the help of solar hydrogen for buildings.
Self-sufficiency of buildings with low greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions can be obtained using Photovoltaics systems (PV). To maximize self-consumption – minimizing the import of grid electricity – at in the best case to be selfsufficient over the year, PV can be coupled with a hydrogen storage system converting the electricity to hydrogen by electrolysis during the summer season, when the on-site production is higher, and using it during the winter season with fuel cells. Tecphy masters the dimensioning methodology of a solar PV hydrogen-electrochemical system towards selfsufficient buildings. A part from the energy and the financial criteria, the life cycle assessment and the calculations of the environmental indicators GWP and CED are always integrated in the studies.
